President’s Corner
As I complete my first year as President, I never dreamed that I had surrounded myself with such a group of energetic people Your officers and Board of Directors (about us) have done outstanding work in projecting this chapter forward.
Vice President Rick Pimentel has assisted Trout in the Classroom (TIC) coordinator and BOD member Chuck Schultz in raising the participation level by 50% to 60 classrooms, with a goal of 20 more in 2011, thanks to a generous grant from the Marin Community Foundation.
Secretary Dan Liberatore has led the way in developing a chapter strategic plan as well as building this new website with a volunteer list of over 100 members (volunteers).
Treasurer Fred Mack has, for the first time in recent memory, created a chapter budget. He plans our outings (events) and has assisted First Cast leader and BOD member Larry Lack in our successful program with youth (education). Larry and Chuck are responsible for planning our general meetings (your role).
Mike Cronin and Linda Perone have written and submitted a grant to the Department of Fish and Game for work on San Geronimo Creek continuing our efforts to restore Coho salmon and steelhead to levels seen in the 1990’s (about us). BOD member Matt Olrich led a work party and continues creating projects on Devil’s Gulch in the Lagunitas Creek watershed (conservation). He introduced us to the GGNRA Redwood Creek, at Muir Beach, project and we have completed four workdays, organized by John Lucas. John is one of the new faces to our leadership team which includes our new secretary, Ryan Lafrenz, new webmaster Caleb Garling and public relations guru Ed Dudkowski (sponsors).
NBTU would welcome you as a volunteer (your role) for on call assistance with any of our programs. We encourage you to sign up on our email list if you haven’t already done so (500+ members have) to receive notification of last minute information and allow www.nbtu.org to enter your mail file. We send very few email blasts during the year.
Have A Great Year and check our site frequently,
George Starn, President
