As President of North Bay Trout Unlimited I would like to take this opportunity to bring you up to date on your chapter’s activities for the past year. We have reached over 1400 future conservationists in Marin County and San Francisco with our First Cast and Trout in the Classroom programs. Trout in the Classroom services over 60 schools and next year will reach 75 classrooms. First Cast events have introduced over 120 youth and their parent/guardians to the sport of fishing through educational events.
Your nine member board of directors has worked to obtain grants from a number of agencies to support this work and to continue our restoration work. The Board of Directors meet the first Thursday of the month and you are welcome to attend. This group has worked diligently for the past 2 1/2 years to bring NBTU into National prominence.
In addition, our volunteer list has grown to over 150 members. Our volunteers have spent many hours working on projects in the Lagunitas watershed with the State Parks and with homeowners, as well as with the National Park Service at Redwood Creek in an ongoing effort to restore salmon and steelhead runs. If you would like to join us, please go here and click “yes” to join the volunteers.
In closing, I would like to invite you to come and enjoy our informative general meetings, the location of which can be found on this website.
I remind you that your yearly dues not only support our local work but fund a number of projects across the country. I hope that you will visit this website often as well as the State TU site at www.tucalifornia.org and the National site at www.tu.org.
