NBTU's webmaster, Dante Liberatore, accepts award for TU Best Website for 2011 at TU's National Meetings in Bend, OR, September 16, 2011.

The following is taken from the 2011 National Conservation Awards Program:

Best Website

North Bay TU's (NBTU) previous website was developed years ago and the technologies had become dated.  Dante Liberatore wrote a proposal to contract a local company, Cardinal Communications, to develop a new website.  Cardinal Communications provided low-cost web development and hosting services as part of their community outreach activities.

The new website went live in November 2009, including an automatic redirect from the old website.  The website features an easy-to-use interface and controls for complete website content management and information distribution over the web.  Clients can create and publish web pages, digital brochures and email messages.  CardinalWare is the Content Management System that also features a file manager, calendar, e-commerce tools and more.

The capabilities of the website and its bulk email capability have enabled NBTU to eliminate its expensive, quarterly membership newsletters, diverting those precious funds to other projects.  The website's content is easily managed by a chapter member, with changes often appearing the same day they are submitted.  Members now have daily access to the most up-to-date information including videos on Trout-In-the-Classroom, Coho Salmon Spawning and Emerging Steelhead.  The fly desk provides photos and recipes of flies to tie.  There is a video of Chapter President George Starn on the home page introducing the viewer to NBTU and the many projects and activities that are ongoing.  Breaking news is easily found and sponsors and members are featured on a rotating basis.  As a result of the currency and relevancy of the information on the website, NBTU has established a volunteer group in excess of 150 people who participate in Trout-In-the-Classroom, First Cast, Big Brothers / Big Sisters fishing outings, project workdays, creating videos and many more activities.

You are invited to visit the website to see what NBTU has built for the benefit of the fish, the watersheds, and the people who care about both.
